About
My work is divided into two categories: graphic design and photo creations. My design background includes being an art director, designer and illustrator for the Chicago Tribune for 30 years. I have also designed books and posters and done corporate branding. I specialize in the written word with appropriate, compelling imagery. My photo creations focus on the passage of time in nature. They are contemplative images which have been sold as fine art, but which could also be used in editorial ways as illustration.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

My specialty is editorial layout and illustration—anything needing to be published in print. I am sensitive to the needs of editors and writers and deliver compelling concepts and layouts. I will often deliver not only the concept, design and print-ready product, but do much of the illustration required myself. I am often asked to create logos for clients and have done several of those projects in the past year. I also create photography-based conceptual illustration as well.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I am not a production artist. I will do the production for any project I am hired to do, but I am not the person to hire if you are only wanting production. That is not what you are paying me for. I am the man to come to if you want quality, innovative and compelling concepts and design which accomplishes your mission with compromising your editorial concerns. You will get options and we will decide TOGETHER the best way to go.
