FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer discounts to Seniors and Veterans. Prices vary according to materials used, obviously a higher priced wood, means a higher priced estimate. I estimate hours for jobs and try to give a fair price. If I come in too low, and we had an agreement, then it is my loss. The only reason why I would go back to a customer with a different estimate is if the cost of materials were higher than I anticipated, then I would show the customer the price sheets differences. At that point, it would be up to the customer if I continue. The customer pays for the materials and my time. I will not over charge and if I give a date for completion, but go past that date, that’s on me!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always listen to the customer to see what they want, most have a general idea. If I have pictures of something similar, I show them those, if not, I try to draw out what they said as well as use unique touches incorporating ideas from what I have seen.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My grandfather was Woodworker Craftsman. He taught me how to use hand tools and respect for power tools. I grew up with corded, metal tools in my hands under his supervision. Having always been able to work things out in my mind was the biggest gift my grandfather ever gave me. I also use YouTube as a refresher if need be.
