FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I price most events and other shoots hourly, and pro-rate the hourly fee after the first hour. I do offer a 10% discount for current and former military, police, and fire personnel as well as non-profit organizations (just be sure to mention you're one of the above when booking!).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
This depends partly on the type of shoot in question, but I always like to have at least a phone conversation discussing a client's priorities and must-haves, the logistics of their shoot; for longer or more intimate shoots (like weddings) a more in-depth look at day-of scheduling is needed, and (if possible) I include a brief couples shoot prior to the big day to get a sense for personalities, styles, and photographic preferences.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently photographed a wedding at Cheney Mansion in Oak Park, IL that really stood out! Because we were able to schedule a couple's shoot in the city about a month ahead of the wedding, I was able to meet the bride and groom to be, really get to know them, and then get a sense of their style and aesthetic preferences prior to their big day, which really came through in the wedding photos thereafter. As it often goes with weddings, things didn't line up perfectly with the schedule day-of, but the level of comfort and confidence we shared meant it was easy to be flexible and still make sure I captured everything that was important to the couple -- and that's what really matters!
