- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I usually prefer to teach 45 minutes vs. 30 minutes. So the price I quote is based on 45 minutes + more if traveling to the students home.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will play a few scales or a short piece that demonstrates what I can do after I hear how the student can play. We get to know each other a little better that way. If it's their very first time playing the flute, I usually ask them about musical influences in the life, such as if their parents or siblings are musical.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been playing flute ever since elementary school, in marching and concert bands through middle and high school and community bands and ensembles as an adult. As a music teacher at Music & Arts in Naperville for 13 wonderful years, I was privileged to teach 50+ students and feel this was my best musical experience ever! My education comes from many private lessons over the years as well as studying at the Sherwood Conservatory of Music in Chicago.
