FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is simple - I charge $75 per hour, or $200 for 3 hours of shooting. After the shoot, you will electronically receive proof sheets for you to select up to 12 images for editing. You will not be given the raw images. Weddings are typically longer affairs when you factor in the pre-wedding meetings, site visit(s), and pre-wedding candids. I charge $450 for a wedding, and furnish the same electronic proof sheet for you to select up to 24 images for editing for print. Prints are separate and ordered online, with no minimum order. If you want a disc with all of the raw, unfinished images, add $300.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
A 50 year old grandmother asked me to make her look beautiful for posterity. In the process, we discussed what she considered "beauty" and after a bit of planning and trust, we achieved a portrait that her friends have mistaken for the Marilyn Monroe Playboy spread.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You're hiring a professional who has spent countless hours on education and equipment when you hire a professional photographer. Expect to compensate them accordingly. If you're doing a wedding, a professional photographer will be investing more than just a couple of hours at the wedding itself. He will interview you, visit the location of the wedding with you ahead of time to plan shots you want, and afterward spend several hours editing your shots for printing. Model portfolios also take planning and forethought. You need to discuss in advance what you want to accomplish, and your expectations. A professional will tell you if he can fulfill your needs, or refuse the assignment.
