If you have a concrete project, you need to hire a concrete contractor, not someone who also does siding, windows, gutters, carpentry, pools, landscaping/brickwork, pressure washing, roofing etc.
A simple analogy can be your health: you may go to an emergency room to be stabilized for a health issue, and the doctors there have a general knowledge of most injuries/health problems, but would you stay there if it is found that you need a brain surgery as an example?
Absolutely not, and it even sounds ridiculous. You would only trust a doctor with the proper training and experience with a particular field of medicine or type of surgery. Proper training and experience comes from focusing solely on that particular field of medicine day in and day out.
It's simple math; the amount of time they dedicate solely to that type of surgery makes them the best at it. Brain surgeons don't spend a few days a week also practicing chiropractic care; it's unheard of in the field of medicine but somehow okay and allowed in the field of construction.
While we too have general knowledge of all fields of construction and remodeling, what we do every day and what I have done for almost 30 years now as a profession is concrete work.
Concrete is all we do; so we specialize specifically in this trade. We do not just have general knowledge of concrete; this is our expertise, and trust me in our field of work, it makes a "huge" difference in the outcome of your project.
Most of us have seen various problems with concrete jobs, either on our own homes or those of our friends'/relatives' because an expert in concrete construction was not used to do the work.
The reason bad concrete jobs continue to be installed and unqualified contractors continue to be trusted to do concrete work is because most severe problems with new concrete do not show up immediately. Severe issues come generally 2 to 5 years after new installation.
That is how they are able to show you recently completed job referrals that look "great." Ask for references older than 5 years minimum, and you may be surprised at your contractors' reaction. Even if they have work that old, they do not want to show those jobs to you because they know those jobs have problems.

We have the experience and ability to service all the customer's decorative and structural concrete needs, and in most cases, eliminating the additional costs of an architect or engineer, saving our customer's time and money.Our experience-good and bad, has led us to be in this position of knowing how to install long lasting beautiful concrete. What is disheartening to most customers is when they begin to see chips and flaking on new concrete they have paid for that is less than 2 years old. Most concrete contractors only talk about compressive strength (P.S.I.) of the concrete, when that actually matters very little when you are installing a new driveway or patio. "Surface strength and durability" is what contractors should be able to offer you. When you ask them about how they will make the surface last they often immediately turn to "salt" issues in the winter and actually lack the knowledge and ability to make your concrete durable on the surface.
