What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our standard pricing is based on the requirements of the job. A typical flyer or brochure costs $50 - $100 per project depending on the requirements and a standard WordPress site with a custom designed theme starts at $1500 depending on the requirements. We price based on the size and scope of the project and confirm the price and scope prior to starting the project. We do not bill extra time for meetings, travel or teleconferences.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our process for working with clients begin with a preliminary meeting regarding the projects where the specific requirements and solutions are discussed. Then a formal proposal and work agreement is created detailing the scope and cost of the project. Next, preliminary designs and/or structure are created for review by the client. After revisions and client approval, the designs are then moved to the production phase. Once the project is created, it is sent to the client for review and final adjustments. Once the client has approved the final deliverables, the client is invoiced and we are available for support for up to a year.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Visual Communication. I have been working in print and digital design for over 15 years in a number of capacities from a graphic designer in a print shop to an in-house designer for a marketing agency to Senior Designer at a Communications company.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I made the decision to work in the commercial arts when I was 16 and planned my future accordingly.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with clients from all different backgrounds from comedians to CPA's to Contractors to Therapists to Personalities. Our designs and deliverables are based on what the client's needs and expectations are, not what our personal style or preference may be.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I am proud of all the work we create for our clients. Our most recent, cpfrc.com, was a project that required a quick turnaround. CPFRC had a conference coming in 3 weeks at the time they contacted us. Working with the client, we conceived, designed and constructed the new site and pushed it live with a few days to spare before the conference.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Conduct a phone or in-person interview of the potential candidate. Treat it as a job interview as you are hiring this person to create projects needed for your business. Ask detailed questions about pricing, timelines, and experience they have had creating similar projects. The key is finding a person that you can communicate with, that understands your vision and delivers on time.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
You should have a clear vision in your mind of what the end product should accomplish for your company. A good designer is only as good as the information you give them.
