This was an excellent class. I took it with my two daughters. One daughter lives on in inner city college campus. The other willing be touring Europe this summer with an orchestra. I own businesses, one of which requires me to visit around 80 Indianapolis businesses per month. Many of these businesses are not in good neighborhood and I am usually alone. I feel good about giving all three of us some information and power! Marita was an excellent teacher and always sensitive to the individual needs of each student. I appreciated the respectful attitude of our "bad guy". It is a little weird to get into a rape position but because of the instruction, we just did what we were taught and practiced how to get out. I trained regularly with Jack in self defense and MMA sport training for about three months. I wanted to train in self defense to feel confident in traveling the streets alone and to become a knowledgeable fighter if I would one day need those skills. Having been in abusive relationships it was very important to know how to safely use my body to defend myself. Jack makes learning easy and presents material in ways that are easy to remember and simple to learn. Jack teaches you how to use your body best to defend yourself. I'm a tall skinny woman and he taught me how to use that to my advantage. He is very encouraging, caring, and passionate about empowering women. I'd highly recommend that every woman take this self defense class or another at some point in their life. The confidence it gives is very empowering.
We offer classes six days a week both in the evening and morning. We have full time instructors who dedicate their life to the success of their students. We have trained over 250 students to black belt level and beyond, and have had the privildge of training World, National and State winners in competition. (Though we never require tournament competition.) We have a nice comfortable environment for the training of all ages. I love teaching karate and seeing students succeed. My favorite part of teaching is teaching something new to someone who has never heard it before. It is so enjoyable to watch the lights in their eyes as they began to recognize a new idea or get to try a new move.
