FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
An initial intake interview meeting is held (either "face-to-face" or online) in order to get the "best fit" and establish an instructional baseline.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Since I have been trained to instruct all developmental ages (from Kindergarten to adult), I have worked with this whole range over thirteen years of tutoring and twenty-seven years as an educator.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Recently (April and May of this year), I concluded assisting a Bangladeshi couple in pursuing their GED. The main overarching challenge that occurred (other than English as a second language) was that the state of Indiana changed the requirements since last year, and now have replaced the Adult Education GED Battery of tests with the TASC (Tests Assessing Secondary Completion) as of January 1, 2014. These tests have "raised the bar" in mathematics in particular and are also more stringent in measuring communication skills. I am glad to say that they were ecstatic when they called me one day in July and informed me that they had passed. Knowing their journey to the United States and their challenges adjusting to a new culture, I was exceedingly proud of them and our work together.
