- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Move away from talking about marketing tools and materials. The tools that are used are all dependent on what the process tells us. You should try many, though you will only be successful with a few. However, trials will be small and directed so that mistakes are early and at a minimal cost. Most organizations have never viewed their marketing from a process standpoint. The world of creativity clashes with the logical thinkers in the process world. It is very difficult to make this transformation on your own and without the experience of someone well versed in both areas. The best way to start is to just start, pull the trigger. Go through the process of deciding what to continue doing, what to change, what to start new and what to stop.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I believe and practice in 2 very different approaches to marketing. First, I believe you do not market through a sales funnel of depletion and finding the ideal client. Instead, I find marketing from the ideal client and towards opportunity is a more cost and effective strategy. Also, I believe in marketing as a service, where marketing becomes part of what you do, not an expense but a way of doing business and satisfying your customer experience.
