About

Hello and thanks for your interest in music lessons. I am Gareth Somers, a multi-instrumentalist, composer/arranger and music educator based in Carmel. I offer lessons on guitar, piano, bass, drums and voice. I charge by the month for regular weekly lessons (4-5 lessons per month) @ $80 for 30min and $150 for 1 hour sessions. The Studio is located in Carmel near the Monon Center. Lessons cover fundamentals of theory, notation, technique, and improvisation. We learn these concepts in context to the music YOU enjoy most. My 8 year old son wanted to learn to play the guitar and I was looking for someone close to give him lessons. Gareth has been amazing. He is patient and knows how to connect with my son. He loves Gareth and looks forward to lessons each week. I love how Gareth is teaching him to play songs from the radio. Gareth's ability to teach amazes me. I'm so glad we found him.

Cool guy, our 13 year old really connects with him. Talented and willing to teach without making it seem like work. We will be continuing lessons with him after summer ends. Great choice for any one looking for a relaxed one on one lesson.

We have had 4 lessons with Gareth and are signing up for more. He has been extremely accommodating with rescheduling due to illness and quick to respond when we contact him. He very knowledgeable and explains lessons in a way that is easy to comprehend and retain when practicing alone.

Yet to take lessons, but Gareth is professional while still being easy going. He takes the time to work out a schedule that is accomodating and shows an overall enthusiasm to begin teaching. I am very happy with choosing Somers Music so far.

Gareth is an awesome guy that has made getting serious about guitar for the first time enjoyable. He does a good job at keeping a pace that both gives me adequate time to understand and practice new concepts and pushes me consistently out of my comfort zone with new challenges. I really like the focus on the theory side first, as this was the biggest gap in my previous knowledge. I have already seen an improvement after focusing on this area... And he is really chill.
