FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Like stated many times throughout my profile, I am a student at Herron School of Art & Design, and I am still learning many things. However, I take initiative to advance my knowledge beyond what I have been taught in the classroom. I research photographers quite often and read their blogs and learn from their methods. I also look up youtube videos nearly every time I edit images to try out new things.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have loved taking images for as long as I can remember. I started practicing photography around the age of twelve. I was taking images of flowers and submitting them to my home town's county fair every year. I then began taking photography and yearbook classes in high school. Those classes were the highlight of each and every day for me. When I entered college the first semester of my freshman year, I thought I needed to go into a profession that was more practical, so I decided I would become a psychologist. I had an keen interest in psychology and sociology, and in fact still do, but it was not what I was passionate about. My second semester of freshman I took an introduction to photography course to fulfill and general art credit. I had forgotten how much I loved it. My professor convinced me that taking images, specifically portraits, were what I needed to be doing with my life. So, since then, I have been pursuing photography as a career, and now I am here, starting my own business.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Portraits are the most common jobs I do for my clients. I have done a lot of senior portraits. I enjoy capturing who that individual is at that specific time in their life. I have also done some freelance model portfolio work. I would have to say that is one of my favorite lines of work, just because of all the deep forms of creativity expose themselves to really push limits in the photography business. I have done some engagement shoots, and I really loved those as well. I love capturing love between two individuals, and knowing that they are going to cherish those images for the rest of their lives.
