Excellent Service — Highly Recommended!

Johnathan was professional and the quality of his work was good. However, my rating reflects a lack of clear and upfront communication regarding pricing. On the day I confirmed the appointment, I specifically asked about the total cost and was told the rate was $45 per hour with a two-hour minimum, which I agreed to.
The work began around 11:00 a.m. and was completed by approximately 12:30 p.m. Despite this, I was charged for three hours of labor, plus a $45 Thumbtack service fee, an additional $25 processing fee, and tax. The total came to $195.45 for adjusting a back door lock, adjusting an office door to close properly, and installing a door handle.
This pricing felt excessive and was not clearly explained upfront. Because of this experience, I will not use Thumbtack again and will instead choose platforms where pricing is more transparent and clearly communicated.

• Our pricing was clearly discussed and agreed upon in advance: $45 per hour with a 2-hour minimum, plus a $45 service call. We strive to be very transparent, and the $45 service call is clearly advertised on our Thumbtack landing page before booking.
• The work did not end at 12:30 PM. According to the receipt timestamp, the job concluded at 1:31 PM, which you can verify directly on your invoice.
• You were not charged any Thumbtack fee. Thumbtack fees are waived once a customer hires a professional.
• There was no $25 processing fee. The $45 charge referenced was the service call, not a processing fee.
• The final total, including tax, reflects the agreed pricing structure. Even using the figures mentioned in your review, the math would not support the total stated.
We always aim to be upfront and transparent, and we regret any confusion. We encourage you to review the receipt for confirmation, and we are happy to discuss this directly if you have any questions.
