Introduction: Johnny Roy & the RubTones is an electric blues band, playing Great, straight-ahead blues and vintage southern R&B. Founded in 2003 in Lexington, KY, Johnny has performed prestigious blues clubs like The Rum Boogie Cafe on Beale Street in Memphis, and The Slippery Noodle in Indianapolis. The full trio is guitar, bass, and drums, yet very vocal driven, with 3 part vocal harmonies on many tunes - especially with the R&B covers of artists like Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, and Sam Cooke. The RubTones also excel in all styles of blues, from the Chicago Blues of Howlin Wolf, Jimmy Rogers, and Billy Boy Arnold to the New Orleans blues styles of Smiley Lewis, Dave Bartholomew, and Professor Longhair! This is an excellent live band with very seasoned players. You can also book us as a guitar/drums power duo without bass, and Johnny Roy also loves to play as an acoustic single act as well. I work at a retirement home and Johnny Roy played for my seniors and they absolutely loved him! Professional, showed up on time, and socialized with residents! Highly recommend.

I hired Johnny Roy & the Rubtones last summer to play in my backyard for an annual neighborhood party we host - what a blast! I asked for blues and classic motown songs, and they made a playlist for me to approve - very nice! They showed up early to set up, weren't too loud (not like bar bands), and everyone had a great time and commented on how good they were - they played the full time with only one break - I would definitely hire them again, and recommend them for any occasion. All you need is some electrical outlets, beer for the guests, and you are set!!
