- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
As a customer, I appreciate it when I can understand a business's pricing and know exactly what I am paying for. Therefore, when I started HCS Computers, I decided that I would make my pricing as simple as possible. Excluding a few special services listed on our website, all services are billed at a flat hourly rate. For on-site services, there is a minimum time of two hours.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
In January 2013, I purchased the parts to build my own desktop computer. Since I had some experience working on the inside of a computer, I did not expect it to be impossible, but I expected it to be more challenging than it was. As I was building the computer, I made a few Facebook posts about my progress. Seeing these posts, some friends began asking me if I could look at their computers. As I began receiving more requests, I began the process of formally starting a business in computer repair.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Our most common task is a PC Tune Up. This is a comprehensive evaluation of a slow computer to identify why it is running slow, followed by steps and suggestions to speed it up.
