FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge atleast a 6% commission. I do not lower my rate, EVER. It seems that many agents, experienced or not, seem to cut commissions. Let’s be honest it certainly doesn’t take a lot of sales skills or tremendous strength to walk into a seller’s home and offer a four or five percent commission in the first twenty to thirty minutes of a listing presentation. It doesn’t take a lot of strength to run ads offering four to five percent commissions or to mail into neighborhoods offering lower commissions. What commission cutting usually means is that the agent isn’t loaded with confidence in themselves nor do they have powerful sales skills or, what’s worse, they’re going up against an agent who is powerful and the “path of least resistance” becomes the easy one to follow. They are not the agent you want negotiating for you on the other side of the table when your investment is on the line.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Continuing education is required to do each year. I personally like to go above what is required. The classes are offered by the board and are free but many agents only go to the required 12 hours to keep their license. I am addicted to learning and go to atleast double the required hours each year.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Do your research on who you think should do the job. There are thousands of agents in louisiana alone and if we are good then there should be no reason we will not want to interview for the job of being your agent. Check for testimonials, call their broker, and do what it takes to make sure they are the right person for the job. Buying and seeling a home will most likely be the biggest expense of your life and you want to know you have the perfect agent for the job.
