FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $40 an hour. Before beginning a project I look at the space and do a brief interview with the client to determine an estimated time of how long the project will take to complete - estimated time is given with understanding that it could come in up to two hours less or up two hours more depending on factors beyond our control - traffic, check out time if we purchase items at a store, homeowner's time in making decisions during sorting process and how involved the homeowner wants or doesn't want to be in the process. Based on this estimate I ask for half of the amount up front in cash. Upon completion of the project a revised total is determined based on actual hours taken to complete and the balance is due at that time - via cash or check. For example - if I estimate your project to take 4 hours total, a projected cost of $160 would be determined and you would owe $80 up front. Let's say the project only takes three hours to complete - the revised total is $120 and you owe a balance of $40 after the project is complete. Likewise if the project actually takes 4 hours to complete the total is the same and you would owe a balance of $80.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I read books on organization, follow other professionals and their tips, attend home shows and try out different methods at home to see how well they work. I am working towards the hours needed for my professional organizer certification.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I absolutely love doing it! Ever since I was little I would organize my closet, my parents' closet, my brother's room, my books....I found that I got things done faster this way. As I started living in my own spaces I loved to find ways to get the most function out of every space and create spaces that worked for me. When I realized what a great benefit an organized space had on a life - I wanted to be able to share that with others and help them in the same way.
