I was a semi-professional actor for eight years. There were stage plays, soap operas, and commercials, but most importantly there were headshots. There were a bunch of them. I remember hating that part of the job more than anything. "Stand here. Look this way. Don't squint. Oh god this picture is terrible what are you doing with your face." You know, things everyone hears.
Years later and one profession change later (lawyer now, but please be nice to me anyway), I found it some sense of cosmic irony that I ended up needing headshots for the firm website. Not wanting to do the same old $500 dollars for two hours of being told my face is strange, I called an old friend who I remembered dabbled in photography. We hadn't really talked in a number of years, but apparently he was busy during that time, busy sharpening his skills just waiting, waiting for the day to crush my new headshots. Because he did.
I have a young looking face, and in a field that values experience (age) more than bravado, I was worried that I would come across as the child that does your taxes. Edward completely overcame that obstacle. The man came to New York, set up the booth, and knew exactly which angles were best for the shots. He was kind, respectful, focused, and funny. The shot took the standard 1.5 hours, but we ended up with a greater number of shots to choose from. In the end, we picked four pictures as the finalists and one to rule them all.
The day after I sent the picture into the firm, I got an email asking who took the shot because it was [insert raving compliments here]. I proudly told them about Edward and Nebos.
I cannot recommend Nebos enough, regardless of what kind of shot you're looking for.
