Introduction

In our first discounted 30 minute consultation for $25, I will listen to your personal goals, and then we’ll go right into having fun with your singing. I am here to help you follow your joy, as you bring your voice to a higher level of vocal efficiency, and musicianship. I will guide you towards the ultimate goals of a true performer; to share, and connect through communication. I strive to make all music relatable, inspiring, and to bring out the unique elements of your voice! With playful, supportive energy, I will challenge you to explore phonation, vowel shaping, and body alignment. I will have you do seemingly silly actions, and sounds that every human can make, and connect that physically easy act with the scientific path to vocal efficiency. We will discuss your interpretation of the words, and we will set vocal goals to convey those meanings. I will share approaches in learning, and memorizing music... especially those tricky rhythmic entrances that everyone feels nervous about! I welcome all children, teenagers, and adults to participate, question and explore the art of vocal production. I also give workshops, guest lectures, outreach programs as well as private lessons.

Marie Is my voice teacher for my school! She has helped many singers including me! When i first started singing, I was a bit nervous but she made me feel so comfortable! Marie asked me about my day and how I was before warming up. She was very welcoming and didn’t rush anything! By the middle of my second year She had helped me vocally so much! I was having trouble with certain things with in my posture and my ability to sing higher and lower. She gave me ideas and tried out silly but productive lessons to help and it did greatly! She gave me tough pieces to sing for my solo but, she knew I was capable. She has helped me come through and be confident in my singing and has made me feel like I could sing anything! Thank you Marie!!

Working with Marie has been such an eye-opening experience. Every lesson, I leave feeling more confident in myself and in my voice. My first lesson with Marie, she was acting as a substitute for my usual instructor, but after just one lesson I knew I had to switch to her. She’s so good at her technique and discovering what works best with each of her students. Marie builds on your strengths to help your weaknesses and she knows how to bring out the best musician in you. I’ve grown so much as a musician just from having her the past year and a half. Not only is she such a sweet person, but she also creates such a comfortable and safe environment. Anyone and everyone would benefit from lessons with Marie.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned a Bachelors of Music in vocal performance from Oberlin Conservatory, and received my Master of Music in Opera Performance from New England Conservatory. I have been teaching voice, and performance for over 10 years, and loving every minute of it! My students have different goals. Some are looking for professional gigs, and applying to conservatories. While others are performing in community shows, singing in choirs or at religious services. I also have some that are starting to compete in on-line karaoke competitions. Many come to lessons to share musical feelings, and joy just with me as their audience. Every student sings with a different goal, but each of their vocal journeys have the same destination; connection, and sharing. I will help you do just that!
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been working in voice, and performance for most of my life. I adore both. I also grew up in a family of teachers. It’s very natural for me to share information, and as you will see when you work with me, I love the science of sound! I love experimenting, and exploring the unique way a person produces their “signature” sound.
