Introduction: My work stands out because I develop a relationship with both the student and their family. Getting to know the student and their learning style is the beginning of a successful tutoring relationship. Developing a relationship with the parents is the other part. Students will be much more successful if the parents or guardians of a student are working with the tutor and the student. Its a team mentality, not a duo. I communicate regularly with the parents and students about their progress, including successes and challenges. If everyone is on the same page, its better for everyone. I like working with students and really getting to know them. Once I have worked with a student for a while, I understand their learning style and how to best help them learn.

Learning Quest has been working with my current Senior and 8th grader for a few years now. We've had experience with other tutors but they did not measure up to the wealth of knowledge and skills that are available through Learning Quest. My senior has benefited from the knowledge transfer of Learning Quest for his SAT, and ACT prep, college and high school essay work, organizational coaching, homework and agenda tracking/planning. My 8th grader has benefited from MCAS support, essays, long-term project planning, and reading comprehension. Beth has supported my kids in all of the primary subjects. I would highly recommend services through Learning Quest in Ashland, MA.

FAQs

How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started tutoring while I was a classroom teacher. I left the classroom to raise my family, but I continued tutoring part-time. When I was ready to go back to work full-time, I decided to expand my tutoring business because I enjoy working with students one-on-one and really getting to know my students as individuals. Its a thrill for me to watch the light bulb go on when student finally gets a concept they have been struggling with understanding.
