Simons Law Office, Criminal Defense Attorneys
About this pro
Excellent response time, attention to detail, and professionalism. Joe is a knowledgable guy, and should be your "go to".May 22, 2015
I discussed a civil matter with Joseph B Simons and he explained the different courses of action that i could take and the possible outcomes. He is a good listener and he addressed my questions. I wasn't asking him to represent me in court but the legal proscesses and avenues open regarding my situation. His answers were clear and to the point and he even told me of recent legal changes in the law relevant to my case. I can see that he is by nature, a friendly person who likes to help people. Even though, my case was not a criminal one he was still very helpful in his clear explanation of the legal aspects of my situation. I have confidence in him. He genuinely wants to help and makes himself available. He respects his client and tries to understand what the client wants and then explains the law and advises his client so that the client feels he is really working together with someone who wants him to understand his choices. I have had experiences with many lawyers and have often felt that they were more interested in making a quick easy buck than really helping me. I have exceptional confidence and trust in Joseph B Simons sincere desire to be helpful. His willingness and clarity in explaining things demostrates his knowledge and mastery of the law. I had done clerical work as a legal technician and I can recognize and appreciate Joe's expertise in law. I would recommend him to anyone without reservation.Sep 29, 2014

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Generally, I charge flat fees. I find that clients appreciate knowing the cost ahead of time without any surprises. In certain cases, I accept payment plans. If you have any questions about my fees to represent you in your case, call me and I would be happy to speak with you.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Almost every day, the Supreme Judicial Court and the Massachusetts Appeals Court issue decisions that alter, clarify, or create existing laws and rights for people charged with crimes in Massachusetts. I read those decisions regularly to keep abreast of the latest trends. In addition, I attend at least a handful of Continuing Legal Education classes every year. These activities enable me to give the best representation possible to my clients, many of whom are facing significant criminal charges.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work? You have a lot of choices when you're searching for a criminal defense attorney. Given that you have so much riding on the outcome of your case, you want to hire the best lawyer you can. What does that mean? The obvious answer is that this person can achieve the best results possible - whether that is advocating for you at trial or negotiating a deal to resolve the case. Again, there are many well qualified attorneys to choose from. Next, you should retain someone with whom you feel comfortable. Someone you trust, and even like. This is a trait that often gets overlooked at first (but leaves people wishing they put more thought into this when they end up with a lawyer who is too busy to return their calls in between court dates). Criminal cases tend to last a while, and you could be working with your attorney for several months. You need to be confident that if you're two weeks from trial and you need to get ahold of your lawyer, he will be available. To sum up, my top three recommendations in terms of criteria to look for in a criminal defense attorney: 1. Able to achieve the best results in your case 2. Available/will return calls promptly & spend enough time focused on your case 3. Someone you feel comfortable working with
