Introduction: Steve is a solo guitarist with several CDs in release. He is the author of The Art of the Soloperformer: A Field Guide to Stage & Podium. Here's what he says about his approach: "Some guitar teachers begin with rigor. I do not. I begin with what's easy and fun. Hard work is what students decide to do on their own, once they see how much more fun getting better can be."

I have both performed and studied with, and under Steve extensively, and as a guitarist and instructor myself, can say unequivocally that he is an absolute master in all musical contexts - guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, performer, engineer, and instructor. His deep knowledge and vast experience in all these contexts makes him a wonderful resource to both peers and proteges. If you can are able to study with him, you are fortunate to be able to do so. As a guitarist, he has profound expertise in most (all?) guitar styles on both the acoustic and electric sides of the equation, and is a delightful, accommodating, and delightfully accommodating guitar instructor. With regard to all of the aforementioned skills and services, I highly recommend, and personally endorse him.

I had the pleasure of working with Steve in many disaplines. He is a stuning guitar player, published author and accomplished producer and sound engineer. As a teacher he has the unique ability to personalize a lesson to suit your individual needs. With superior instincts Steve has always been able to identify areas that can be improved and has many suggestions to do so. I have always recommended his book "the art of the Solo Performer" to my friends struggling with stage issues and it's been very helpful to me personally. The book is clever and insightful and filled with Steve's nonsense tips for entertaining, as well as his humor. I highly recommend Steve as a teacher, you won't find a more talented and generous mentor in the field of music.

Steve is a tremndous jazz and classical guitar player. He's also a committed teacher. These attributes allow him to adapt his lessons to each student's individual goals as they change. Taking lessons from Steve made me a better student of the guitar; both in technique and music theory.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I produce the first CD for those who sometimes go on to success in music. I often teach guitar students their first professional level right hand technique.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Match your goals to Steve's specialty: fingerstyle solo guitar. If you want to play like Chris Parkening, Joe Pass or Tommy Emmanual, Steve can help you get there. If you want to play like Steve Vai... not so much.
