Introduction: While classroom learning environments have many necessary and unique benefits, often times teachers simply don't have the time or mental bandwidth to dedicate necessary one-on-one attention to any student in need of it. Through my own experiences as a student, I've learned how to recognize where a student is encountering an issue, adapt my teaching style accordingly and help them achieve mastery through guided practice. I have now taught middle and high school aged students in a classroom, as well as tutored numerous college students in calculus and statistics. As I near completion of my PhD in statistics, I'm hoping to expand my reach as a teacher and provide more students with the one-on-one attention they need to gain confidence and success in mathematics. I love learning about how others learn. With every student I tutor, I'm exposed to a different way of thinking and get to expand my own understanding of the subjects. During my own studies, I've had teachers who are extremely knowledgeable in their subjects but lack the ability empathize with the inability to understand and adjust their approaches for students that learn in different ways. I hope to give as many students as possible a positive attitude towards math and a chance to consider it as their own career path.

I decided to work with Karoline after I received a 60% on a homework assignment that the Professor assigned for review. On top of this failing grade, I was struggling to understand new material because there were certain basic concepts that I did not have previous knowledge of. Although I have never been very comfortable with math, this failing grade made it clear that there were large gaps in my math abilities and that I was already at a disadvantage as compared to my peers. I started looking for a math tutor, and after trying a few, I am so lucky I found Karoline! Whether it is the simplest concepts (for example, I have a hard time with inequality notation) or something complicated and theoretical, Karoline explains math with clarity, grace, and real-world relevance. She goes above and beyond for her students. She is always on time, responds to phone calls/texts immediately, and works hard to accommodate busy schedules. Recently, I was not aware that a teacher moved our exam to an earlier date and I started to get nervous. Karoline changed her schedule around to meet with me three days in a row. She also prepared a sheet of practice problems for me to work on after our tutoring sessions. I also want to note that she is very helpful in terms of study skills and organization techniques. I am fairly messy and so have always been prone to silly mistakes in math. Karoline recognized that this was an obstacle for me and so she helped me devise a special system to organize my math problems into a step-by-step chart so that I could more effectively check my work. I am entering my final exam with an A in the course and truly have Karoline to thank for this. I promise that if you are looking for a math tutor, look no further. You will not regret it!

I am an art student and have the requirement to take one math class for my degree. The task seemed impossible but Kari is very smart and really cool. I dread going to a math classroom setting, but meeting one on one with Kari is great. My mother used this website to find her, and I'm impressed the internet could be so reliable to find an awesome tutor!
