StudioLowe Design combines charismatic details and alluring materials to craft spaces that feel intimate and timeless. A ‘studiolo,’ or ‘little studio,’ is an intimate and richly ornamented space that is designed to foster repose and contemplation. StudioLowe enhances the feeling of each space by thoughtfully designing our clients’ engagement with the sensuous details that will surround them. Unlike other practices that design from the building envelope inward, StudioLowe designs are grounded in a sensibility that starts at the scale of our interactions and builds outwards, prioritizing the moments when the material qualities of a space connect with a person’s habits, to conjure the feeling of ‘home.’ Led by Dr Taylor Lowe, a residential designer with over 15 years of international experience in architectural design as well as a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Chicago where he researched design behavior and cultures, StudioLowe specializes in detail-oriented, experience driven designs of residences, affordable housing, adaptive re-use, remodels, senior housing, restaurant design and pop-up architecture.
