FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
With a new student, I'll sit down with them one-on-one and get to know their level of music experience and personal musical taste. Then, I ask the student what they're trying to achieve with their lessons. Typically for beginners, I start with the basics (i.e., posture, parts of the guitar, fretboard navigation, etc.) before quickly moving on to a few basic chords and an easy song written out in tablature. For students who already have some playing experience, I typically will have them play a little piece for me or jam with me for awhile to assess their level of ability. Then, I offer some constructive criticism and suggest some areas to focus on for daily practice and some assignments and goals for the next lesson. I also love answering questions, so to a large extent, I let the students' interest guide our course of study.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree from Berklee College of Music in Jazz Composition as a guitar principal. I work with several professional bands which play out regularly. I also have an original band.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Music is my passion, it is in my blood. I can't imagine doing anything else.
