I contacted Artisan, Inc. in regards a tile project needed to be done on my kitchen floor. The owner, Gregg, came to my house and gave me an estimate which I was very pleased with. I had an urgency to get the job done as I had family, from out of state, coming to visit. Gregg and his crew were professional and courteous. The work was performed expeditiously and the attention to detail was very impressive! I love my kitchen floor so much that I will be hiring Artisan, Inc. to do my future bathroom remodel!

I called upon Artisan Construction Services in the late evening in hopes that they might be able to send someone right out to my rental unit due to a tenant’s kitchen being completely flooded within and around the dishwasher and sink area. To my great surprise the Owner, Gregg, came right to our rescue. He was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and completely authentic from start to finish. Gregg immediately diagnosed the problem we had at hand. He kept us fully apprised all the way through his services and he discussed our options for an immediate remedy as well as for long term prevention. We have owned rental properties for over 30 years and the services that Gregg delivered to us was, hands down, some of the best that we have had in the business. I am very pleased to say that we will most definitely be doing more business with Artisan Construction Services as we have many other non-emergency services for our rental units that require prompt remedies. Gregg’s prices are both equitable and straightforward. I highly recommend Artisan Construction Services to any property owner for both emergency and non-emergency services.

While I was waiting for a quote for property management, I received a call from the tenants about a clogged faucet. I asked Gregg if he could go check it out; he went out the same day, and told me he would charge $90 for emergency service. I met him at the property, and when we got there, he said he figured out he could replace it by shutting off the main, but that he would prefer to come back on Monday to do the work. Since it was already 6.30 pm, I agreed to it - although I was surprised that he still charged for emergency service, when he then told me he wouldn't really do it till Monday. Then on Saturday he called to tell me he wouldn't make it out there on Monday either, and would plan on going on Tuesday. I told him that 1) I couldn't leave the tenants without a faucet for that long and that 2) I was a little surprised that now I had paid him $90 for absolutely nothing (an emergency service that resulted in him telling me he could do the work 4 days later, not exactly a rush job in my opinion). He refused to refund the fee. Needless to say, I called someone else and will not be using him for property management.
Artisan Construction Services Inc.'s reply
This negative review is completely unwarranted. Initially, I was contacted regarding property management. At that time, we had a brief phone conversation during which he stated that he was still weighing his options and that he would get back to me. He was never awaiting a quote from me. Three weeks later, I received a phone call about a non-operating kitchen faucet at his rental property. He attested to the fact that he tampered with the faucet the night earlier in an attempted repair and was unable to fix it. I requested photos, via text, of the inoperative faucet and all related shut offs under the sink. He then sent photos of only shut offs all which were completely unrelated to the faucet supply. He also instructed me that there were shut offs which were easily accessible in the basement directly below. I informed him that it was late on a Friday afternoon and an immediate solution may not be possible. He said he understood. I reluctantly agreed to try to help. Prior to dispatch I disclosed my emergency fee for diagnostic services. I even discounted my fee in hopes of earning a new customer. I stated that I could only do my best. I never guaranteed an immediate remedy. The property owner agreed. I then sat in rush hour traffic for two hours. When I arrived I discovered the chaotic conditions that existed at the property. A partial dirt basement was barely accessible and there were no available shut offs as previously indicated. I spent at least an hour and a half, on-site, just in diagnosing the problem and researching shut off locations. I tried, in earnest, to fix the faucet. However, the faucet had been so badly tampered with that the set screw on the handle was missing and the faucet could not be repaired. I then informed the owner that a new faucet was necessary. He concurred. I informed him that if he would like to purchase one immediately that I would install it then. He said that he was unable to do so due to his dinner plans. He stated he would purchase a new faucet and have it available for a Monday install. At this time the tenant was apprised and was content with the proposed solution. The property owner then left in haste. The tenant later stated that this was not the first time that they were inconvenienced. During the winter months they would have to operate a space heater as the pipes would freeze. Later that evening the property owner texted me with pictures of a faucet which is currently in use at his own home. He proposed that he would remove that faucet and have me install it as a replacement at the rental property. He stated that he would then purchase a new faucet and install it himself in his own home. I had to explain that what he was proposing was impossible as the faucet in his own home had a separate spray hose that would not adapt to the configuration at the rental property. As of Sunday I was given no confirmation that a new faucet had been purchased. At that time I felt that my decision to work with this person would be a continued problem. I called to alert him of my concerns. He then returned my call frustrated and requested a refund. I denied his request and explained that my discounted emergency fee was warranted as I spent a considerable amount of time and effort on diagnostics and still attempted repair under less than favorable conditions. I then asked him how he wanted to proceed. He told me to do nothing and threatened me by saying that he would ensure a negative review on Thumbtack.
