FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Constantly. I'm always studying my peers in the business from my mentors online to magazines and other media. I study every photo I come across and try to get into the mind of the photographer who shot it. What were they focusing on as he prepped this shot? How did they light it? How did they direct the model? and so on. Always looking to improve.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My wife actually got me into it. She need help with a photo idea she had for her Facebook and couldn't set the camera up herself to get the angle she wanted. Next thing I knew I had put the tripod away and was directing her through a photo shoot. It was like it was second nature to me. Then we looked at the photos on the computer and all she could say was "Wow....You need to quit your job and do this." To which I laughed... then thought, "hmm I don't really see a downside to that now that I think about it." Then I began researching in ridiculous amounts of detail on fundamentals of photography, and cameras and editing software techniques until I would snap out of a daze at my desk around 4am. That's how I knew I really loved photography. I just can't stop learning about it and working with it.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most common would have to be head shot style portraits. I get a lot of clients just wanting great profile pictures for their social media or a set of photos to post online. Then after the flood of comments and likes they come back and order prints.
