FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Starr's passion for event planning began at an early age. Catering was always in her roots as the part time gig that got her through high school, college, and 15 years in Radiology! In her spare time, she always loved entertaining, and helping friends plan their events. Eventually she decided to make her passion project a full blown business venture. In 1996, she founded Special Occasion Servers Inc. and hasn't looked back since!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
In our history we have handled events of all shapes, sizes and occasions - from an intimate dinner party at home to a corporate charity event serving hundreds. Our most common jobs are cocktail or dinner parties, where customers either make their own food or get a delivery of food from a caterer. We also provide staff for graduations parties, holiday parties, religious celebrations, bridal and baby showers, wedding receptions, corporate functions and many other types of events. During the warmer months, we offer grill staff for Summer BBQ's and outdoor events.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Our staff offering is truly full service. From your first interaction with Special Occasion Servers, you will have access to a complimentary event consultation to help plan your gathering. On-site visits to venues are available upon request. From booking to final clean up, Special Occasion Servers is available to answer any questions that come up in order to ensure that your event goes smoothly. Our staff of Kitchen Managers, Waitstaff and Bartenders are professionals at what they do. From greeting your guests at the door to take their coats, to working within your timelines to be sure that food and drinks are served exactly according to the schedule of your event, to reheating, garnishing, plating, and serving - our staff does everything except cook from scratch! Throughout your event, our staff will keep drinks and plates full, empty glasses and trash away, and by the end of the event they will do a full clean up - so by the time you say goodbye to your guests your leftovers are put away and your kitchen is spotless. Our motto has always been "Relax at your event - let us do the work!" And we mean it.
