Introduction: I've been told many times that my work has an uplifting effect on viewers and that I have a colorful style that is honest, sincere, and moving. My background as an artist, singer, poet, writer, and actress helps me capture the most important elements of a story, performance, or message. Editing is like writing or sculpting: taking away what doesn't belong. I don't use gimmicky transitions, or jarring sounds. I want the main message to shine through on its own. The addition of music always makes the video soar in meaning. I am grateful for the many years in education and in the arts that help me produce what clients want. It's not enough to have fancy equipment, and be technically smart. The artist can see what others may miss. There is a thrill in creating something from nothing. Taking a piece of life, seeing it through a lense, and enhancing the action or message with editing to create a work of art is the essence of filmmaking or videography. It's all exciting, fun, and gratifying especially when the client is happy with my work and I have exceeded their expectations.

Judy is a pleasure to work with and I would certainly recommend working with her. She brought out the best in me and my non-profit organization with her insights, quick wit, and skills in videography. She filmed an interactive workshop that our organization sponsored and then worked with me to turn it into a video that told the story. She worked on it very diligently and with full consultation over several weeks, editing and adding in new footage, which resulted in a very good product. The project evolved as it went along, and next time I would work with Judy at the beginning to map out what our end product should be. Since I didn't do this, Judy offered to guide us through that process after the fact instead, which she did very well.

Judy was generous and attentive in making a video for us, pulling out a powerful segment from our True Story Theater performance, and swift in coming up with the edited length we needed. We ideally would have had multiple cameras, but given we only had one what she created was strong.

Excellent to work with, and has an outstanding personality. I'm located in Texas, and she was recommended to me from a friend in New York for a professional video shoot in Boston. She treated both the clients she was filming, and their associates with professionalism, and was able to fulfill a multitude of promotional videos, along with a documentary, far beyond the expectations that were asked of her.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$100 an hour for filming with one camera, $150 for filming with 2, $175 for filming with 3. $50-75 an hour for editing depending on how many cameras were used. I work with your budget as much as possible, streamlining your project as necessary to fit your budget.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
By the very nature of the work and the variety of client projects, I am always upgrading my equipment and learning how to do everything better.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was an art teacher for fifteen years and switched to video because my mother asked me to write her life story and it turned into a documentary called, Angels of Austria: The Church That Reached Out To Holocaust Survivors. The film came out so well, I presented it to 400 venues such as colleges, libraries, retirement communities, high schools, and movie theaters. I was interviewed on Maine Public Radio in the winter of 2008. That led to people wanting me to make family history movies. I worked out of TV access stations and contributed many programs. From there, production jobs started coming my way. Now I am on my own but still enjoy providing shows. I love the idea of TV access channels. Local community arts, events, and things that bring people together locally are important to my sense of place and belonging. I think people really crave that.
