Introduction: Gerald V. McKenna, LMHC PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY My primary skill is the ability to form a strong personal connection to others very quickly, regardless of my assumed role. This is due to my style of relating to others-including factory workers, engineers, plant managers, vice-presidents, CEO's, physicians, medication providers, police officials, judges and others in the Court systems to clients and their families. Their issues included: school issues, substance abuse/addiction, suicide, teen issues, dual diagnosis, post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, dysthymia, co-dependency, early recovery issues (PAWS), bi-polar, schizophrenia, sexual trauma, victims and perpetrators, childhood neglect, marital and family problems. Groups included: DUI-first and second offenders, adult children from substance abusing/dysfunctional families, family interventions, men's issues, methadone clients, intensive out-patient early recovery substance abusers with focus on relapse prevention, incarcerated substance abusers, HIV/AIDS and a unique group of probationers with their probation officer there, focusing on requisite changes to avoid violations. My techniques range from EMDR to Gestalt with my major focus on cognitive behavior therapy. I have worked mainly as an outreach counselor, with a mix of environments including homes, jails, rehab hospitals/facilities, an EAP at the Digital Equipment Corporation, schools, a methadone clinic, nursing homes, and halfway homes for both substance abusers and ex-convicts. Other Positions: I have worked as an industrial/manufacturing engineer (saving millions of dollars on various projects), human resources consultant focused on valuing diversity and employee relations in a multi racial/cultural facility in Roxbury, MA, a platform trainer both technical and personal growth courses, a program manager for a project that resulted in over a billion dollars in increased sales, a purchasing project saving over twenty-five million dollars and as an engineering supervisor.
