Matt was absolutely fantastic! I had just gotten a new puppy and also have a 10 year old Maltese. I wanted to make sure I did get some early training in before my puppy became a crazy, destructive little one, LOL!
Matt taught us how to teach her so many great things such as sit, down, and the most important one of all, STAY!
He also taught us how to walk her properly so she heels when she should and doesn't pull.
I would suggest Matt for your puppy and dog training any day! He is very knowledgeable, friendly and always prompt. I would give him 10 stars if I could!

Tiny was a happy very excitable boy...and demanded my attention 24/7 but with what Matthew even after one session it was a complete 360!!! TINY is a completely different dog...calm and respects my command. I will definitely use Matthew again for any future issues. He was professional and very nice to Tiny and knows what hes doing.

Excellent kind but firm with my dog. Problem much improved. I strongly recommend Matt Connell as a dog trainer.

Matt was awesome and my dog, Wags, liked him. Im almost disappointed that Wags learned so quickly and we didnt get to have more sessions. Matt is very knowledgeable and he understands separation anxiety. I would definitely use Matt again, if needed, and I would highly recommend him for anyones dog training needs.

My powerful, headstrong, rambunctious 10-month old Golden Retriever and I just completed three training sessions with Matt. I traveled from southern Maine each time and it was worth it!! My sweet Elsa, quiet & calm indoors, turned into a danger both to myself on-leash and to herself off-leash at the beach we visit daily. Im a senior and Elsa pulled me down several times on-leash resulting in a couple injuries. One day she ignored my frantic Elsa come!!! on the beach as she swam through the waves toward the open sea chasing cormorants. Having tried every other method of control (group dog class, the Gentle Leader, martingale, choke collar, full harness with front and back lead, long leash, short leash), I decided to try e-collar training as a last resort, because I wanted to prevent a serious personal injury and because I wanted to protect Elsa from drowning, getting lost, hit by a car, etc. Our world had sadly narrowed down. I had envisioned us enjoying outdoor adventures together but instead it narrowed down to leash walking which was a very unpleasant struggle, hurt my back, and certainly no fun for Elsa. I wanted our world to open up but I felt trapped because I couldnt control Elsas overwhelmingly powerful enthusiasm & natural retriever instincts. Aware, my daughter urged me to give Matt a try because he had successfully trained her three lovable unruly dogs. She assured me it would be worth the effort, travel, and investment in a happy life with Elsa. And so I traveled to Massachusetts for each of the three lessons with Matt. From the very first session I saw a dramatic change in Elsa. I was astounded. From that day forward, my leash walking problem disappeared. I love walking with Elsa now!!! I can take her anywhere and I now feel safe that she wont knock me off my feet. She heels at my side off leash and comes when I call her, no matter where we arebackyard, woods, beach. She doesnt gleefully lunge at new people anymore. We are now able to achieve certification as a Therapy Dog team to do volunteer visitations at local facilities. Matt was great working with Elsa but also with me. He was very professional, clear in his teaching methods, provided plenty of opportunity for my questions, expert at use of the e-collar device, and sensitive to Elsa. As I look back, I wish I had gone to Matt FIRST instead of last. That certainly would have saved me a lot of money considering all the purchased dog accessories that didnt work; but more important, my world with Elsa would have opened up sooner. I highly recommend Matt as a dog trainer to anyone who wants all the joys of a well behaved canine companion. Thanks so much Matt!!!
