Me and my dog worked with Jim for a little over 2 months and in that time my dog did a complete turn around. I contacted Jim when I first rescued my dog and at the time wanted her evaluated and was considering sending her back to the rescue due to personality issues including some aggression issues. Jim came to my house spent time with Peanut and assured me that with his help and training techniques Peanut could be a great dog. I went into the training a little skeptical and by the end of our sessions I am a complete believer in positive training and Jim's methods. Peanut is an obedient, happy fun loving dog now that enjoys training and has become very social. I cannot thank Jim enough. I refer him to people whenever possible. I also know if I ever need help with Peanut again or with another dog Jim will be the first person I call.

I highly recommend taking Jim's dog tricks class. Jim is a great teacher. He really knows what he is doing as evidenced by his three dogs and the vast number of tricks they perform. He is patient and eager to help you and your dog learn. In class and in your daily trick practice, you further strengthen your bond with your dog by helping him or her to exercise his brain and body. And in a only a few weeks you have a dog that can do some very, very cool and funny things. But most important of all, my dog loves going to class. He knows when I start packing up his things and putting treats into a bag that it is class day. He runs around like a maniac with a huge smile until we get to my car. Seeing him that happy, by itself, makes it worth taking the class.

My husband and I took Jim Helem's Pet Tech: Pet Saver & Pet CPR/First Aid class and found his seminar to be outstanding and highly informative--even for novices like we are. Jim has a friendly, knowledgeable teaching style that makes the information interesting and he gives plenty of time for hands-on practice of the various methods of CPR and first aid. We learned how to safely access situations to best care for a pet in need, The information he provides is great for both experienced animal professionals as well as pet owners looking to better know how to care for their own dogs to keep them safe and healthy--especially in emergency situations like choking, seizures, or if their are unresponsive. We also learned how to better care for pets throughout their daily lives through things like nutrition, dental care, exercise, and pet safety to improve their quality of life and to keep the pet healthy and safe. And the snout-to-tail assessment is an excellent way to know and document your pet's health to be informed of or alerted to any changes in their health. I found the class to be excellent and I learned so much that I feel I can use in practical application in my job as a in-home pet sitter. I feel more confident that if a situation were to arise with one of my pet guests, my husband or myself would be able to access and handle the situation in a safe and knowledgeable manner to help the hurt or ailing pet until they could be safely transported to a vet/hospital. I highly recommend Jim's course to any pet professional or pet owner to further their knowledge on pet CPR/First Aid to better prepared to care for their pet in an emergency situation or just to improve your everyday handling of your pet. Our pets depend on us so much and they are family, so a day to learn how to possibly save them and better care for them is so well worth it. And Jim is an amazing instructor. It is obvious he loves animals and his dogs are simply gorgeous and amazing! Take his class, you won't regret it. A five star experience!

Jim Helms is a fantastic trainer. He has a connection with his students that makes training their dogs fun. He is always upbeat, gives great compliments, and makes learning fun. He has a wealth of knowledge in the field of dog behavior and training. He helps strengthen the bond between owner and their dog(s), he lets them feel that anything is possible even the most challenging dog. He is professional, honest, and at times rather funny. He is a trainer that is approachable and willing to lend a listening ear and sound advice. As a colleague of his I myself have learned a few tricks from him. Overall, Jim Helms is the whole package from being able to teach dog training classes, tackle difficult cases, teach fun classes like scent work and tricks to agility, he runs successful workshops and his belief that owners should be fully prepared and informed on the what if's as in his First Aid and CPR class, his healthy class for dogs, and so much more. Jim Helms is a top notch Dog Trainer.
