FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly aware of new ideas in teaching methods. I make it a point to see concerts of all styles including recitals at my Alma mater, New England Conservatory of Music, jazz, rock and dance clubs throughout my area, high school and middle school productions, community theater and Broadway shows in Manhattan. I go to classical concerts and operas. I keep abreast of the vocal opportunities offered at Disney, Busch Gardens, Cedar Point and Six Flags. I am active with helping my students who are bridging into their first music teaching positions in the school systems. I'm pretty current.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was in a teaching program growing up in my school system. I have been teaching forever and I love it. I am also a professional singer. I love singing too. It just makes sense when you love to teach to teach what you know how to do.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I have been doing fundraisers for The First Baptist Church of Melrose where I am employed as the choir director and pianist/organist through a series of concerts and musicals. I produced a recital of French music, "Toast à l'élégante musique français," produced and directed "Godspell" and produced and played the piano for a recital entitled "Opera and What Broadway Did To It". I am preparing another fundraiser for this summer entitled "Cinderella's Funtastic Ball". I will be looking for all kinds of singers and dancers of all ages to be involved in this project. We have a great time.
