Introduction: I am a skilled yoga teacher largely because the skills of yoga do not come easy to me. My natural tendencies seem to be the opposite of what yoga asks for and so to find my personal sense of wholeness, of stillness, of calm, it took a whole lot of learning. This learning I take very seriously. I've always felt compelled to know things inside and out. I've always loved to read vocabulary books, learning new words, ways to effectively express a particular emotion, feel, event, person etc all in one word. I am very particular in my language and word choice. This comes across clearly in my teaching when I guide students in a very sequential, understandable manner. I explain it thoroughly yet efficiently. It is not just the physical that I work to guide you in but the whole experience, mental, emotional, energetically, and spiritually. And I'm a very good explaniner. I've always had a gift for meditation, for understanding one person's words and being able to adapt them so another will understand as well. The teachings of yoga, ancient and the modern western science approach of it are often shared in convoluted, sometimes overwhelming ways that doesn't resonate with all practitioners. It is my innate gift to understand and explain, a gift that I have cultivated through years of study and training both yogic and western science, a gift I would more than love to share with you if you'd give me the gift of your presence. The connections. Being part of those 'a-ha' moments where things start to click, where tension dissolves and space and peace move in. Getting to know people in a real real way. So often we just muddle along trying to keep up an appearance that everything is swell, we got it together, afraid or embarrassed to be vulnerable and openly honest. In a yoga studio it starts to immediately break. Even the first step in people seem to let a guard down. When I ask 'how's it going' I get real answers, truth. And it's awesome, even when the truth doesn't seem so especially awesome, the sharing it is. It starts in the studio, a safe space where people come to heal and better themselves, and eventually it begins to permeate every facet of life in a way that promotes contentment, happiness, that ever elusive bliss.
