About
***Important note: I only offer online/video call lessons***
I believe that guitar lessons are a learning experience for both the student and the teacher. Learning with me will be insightful, it will challenge you, but most of all, it will be fun. I want you to look back on these lessons not as a class or a course of study. You should remember them as a fun experience, a creative space, and a time to be yourself.
My past and current students would confirm that I present the guitar in an understandable and practical way, relevant to each person's experience. Music should not be some mysterious enigma that only a select few can understand. Music is something that anyone can do! Music is meant to be enjoyed!
Thanks for checking my profile. Being a performer and guitar player for 25+ years (basically all of my life), I've now been teaching guitar for over 3 years. I realized that music is my passion, and I want to share that experience with other people. I look forward to starting you on your musical journey!

Several lessons in and my experience with Dan thus far has been great. As someone with adhd, it can be really hard to stay focused & grasp concepts the first time when your brain's jumping from stimulus to stimulus constantly, but Dan has always been patient and engaging, among other things. He has made my experience learning guitar as an almost complete beginner fun, and a lot less daunting through providing structure and pacing as well as simple yet detailed explanations and demonstrations of concepts in a way that properly considers how much I already do and do not know, so, while I always feel like I'm learning, I never feel as if lessons are blowing by me before I get a reasonable chance to grasp a concept. Dan is a professional, personable, and skilled teacher who cares about what he does, and his services are a great value for what you get (:

After trying to learn guitar via YouTube for a few years, I finally broke down and decided to find an actual instructor. After a few sessions with Dan I realized I should have done so much sooner. Dan is well versed in theory, technique, composition, and live performances. He quickly helped me unlearn bad habits I picked from learning guitar on my own and gave me a solid foundation to build off of. Dan was great at accessing my current skill level and helping me articulate the direction I wanted to go in with guitar in general. From his experience in a number of cover bands, he was able to teach me tons of songs from memory. While many of the songs I wanted to initially learn were above my skill level, he was able to break the songs down and even show me simpler ways to play them, which you just can’t find online.
Dan is patient, motivating, and fun, which keeps me coming back. He’s organized, can go at whatever pace you are comfortable with, and sends you notes from each lesson. YouTube and online tabs are no substitute for the real deal. I’ll be rocking out with Dan for the foreseeable future.

I’ve been having a fantastic experience with Dan as my guitar teacher. As a self taught guitarist, learning guitar from him has immensely helped me to uncover areas that need work as well as what I should be focusing on - I’m already seeing improvement in my playing :)
He is also a down to earth meets friendly person who genuinely cares and is very accommodating. No matter where you might be on your guitar journey, if you’re looking for guitar guidance, I highly recommend booking lessons with Dan!

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
This profile and offer is for online lessons only. I meet one on one with the student via a video call. This has been a very successful model for my students. All of my reviews are from online students.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing guitar for 25 years, teaching since 2020. I took private guitar lessons for 8 years, and have been performing and learning on my own ever since.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got started because a friend asked me to teach him! We both enjoyed it a lot, and he has grown as a guitar player so much since we started. I knew very early on that this was something I wanted to continue to do for other people.
