Introduction

My work and school experience stand out when compared to almost all tutors. I have successfully tutored over 100 students and I have taught over 1200 students. I am constantly striving to be a better teacher because I love what I do and believe every child has a right to an excellent education. I am currently earning a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction and I take every opportunity to teach new classes so I can learn new material and technique. I have taught in after school programs for struggling students, SAT programs, and I teach summer school every year. I only hire tutors that I feel share the same drive for excellence. I know that my tutors are the best because they are never satisfied with their current level. I believe this is a quality of all successful people.

My daughter was ready to drop her AP Calculus class. She was struggling with a bad teacher and being the youngest in her class. Then we were introduced to Glenn Smith. Glenn changed her year! By meeting with her weekly in his "virtual classroom (Dabbleboard)" he was able to review concepts, go over homework and prepare her for tests. Glenn is a wonderful teacher! She went from struggling to getting straight A's in her class. Glenn also prepared her for the AP Calculus test. She got a 4! We especially like Glenn's flexibility. My daughter is extremely busy but Glenn could always accommodate her schedule. This is made even easier by the fact that all the instruction occurs on-line. There is no lost time due to commuting. It is an extremely focused and efficient way to tutor. I can't say enough good things about Glenn and our tutoring experience last year! We have already got his committment for this year (AP Calc BC), so hurry before all of his time fills up!

This is our second year using Advanced Math Tutors, which I discovered through an online search, after not finding someone through word of mouth means. I was a tad hesitant to try the service, but decided to give it a try based upon the positive reviews and our pressing need to find a strong Calculus tutor to help my son. Last year, we used "David" who was great and extremely effective at helping my son "get it" (... in contrast to his classroom experience, where he had been struggling the entire prior semester, unfortunately). Once he started meeting with David (via SKYPE, by the way, which we LOVE and find extremely accommodating in todays busy world), the proverbial "lightbulbs" immediately went off and continued to do so during their tutoring sessions throughout the second semester of Calculus AB. This year, David's schedule didn't work with ours, but thankfully Glen, the owner, was available to tutor my son for Calculus BC. As wonderful an experience as we had with David, our experience with Glen is even more so! My sons assessment of Glen is that he is an "excellent" tutor, very flexible, fun and cares. I echo these sentiments and will also add that Glen is very accommodating and responsive. I also appreciated his commitment to my son and his willingness and ease in communicating, as needed, directly with my sons teacher. Im very glad to have discovered Advanced Math Tutors. Theyve made a world of difference to my sons understanding of the material, as well as his grades, confidence levels, and general happiness. Thank you Advanced Math Tutors!

Glen and his staff are amazing! We had a lot to do in a short amount of time and Glen and my son's tutor were both very supportive and stayed in constant contact with us to let us know our son's progress. They went the extra mile and we will definitely use them again and refer to others.

It's imperative to work with a tutor that understands your child and their learning style. It is also important for your child to enjoy working with their tutor. Our tutors are friendly and trained to deliver instruction through many different techniques. This ensures that your child will receive the best personalized tutoring. Your child should also work with a tutor that is capable of explaining why concepts are important and how they help people understand the world. Too often, teachers and tutors focus on rote memorization of concepts. This leads to very little understanding and almost no retention of knowledge after a short period of time. Our tutors strive to teach your child the material but also to understand and take ownership of the underlying concepts. This guarantees your child will begin to do better in class and more importantly they will begin to understand math as a tool as opposed to a requirement.
