FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am a commissioned Notary Public for the State of Maryland ONLY. I can only charge the rates set forth by the Secretary of State of Maryland. The state of Maryland governs the fees that may be charged for Notary Public services. The allowed rate is $4 per notarized signature per page of document, plus a $5 mobile travel fee (if applicable) plus $.585 mile EACH way from starting zip code. My home zip code is 21214 and rates should be calculated each way from there I use GoogleMaps to determine mileage.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I respond as quickly as possible to their request for service and determine my availability in relation to their need. Upon arrival, I follow the state's mandate to verify the identity of the signers by viewing and documenting a valid, unexpired state issued ID for each signer. ALL signers must be at least 18 years of age. NO signatures are notarized in absentia, i.e., the signers MUST be present. The customer MUST determine the type of notarization is needed prior to my arrival. NO blank spaces are allowed to be filled in after the document is notarized and if necessary, I will have customer fill them in before I stamp document. I am not an attorney and cannot provide blank documents or advice.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was first commissioned in 1992 for a job I had with a charitable foundation. I have attended workshops throughout the years and conferences offering best practices seminars. I have networked with those more experienced than me over the years and I continue my membership with the National Notary Association and Notary Training Network.
