Introduction: Shutterpix Portrait Studio was named Best of 2015 in Wedding Photography by Thumbtack. Why should you hire us over our competition? If you decide to hire us, you will work directly with owner/master photographer Susan Cranford. She is an excellent portrait photographer who has a creative vision and the tools and skills to accomplish that vision. Her pricing is very reasonable and she is always willing to go the extra distance to make sure that her customers are happy and satisfied. A great value for your hard earned dollars! I have always been a visual learner. All of my earliest memories come to me as movies or moving pictures. I have "an eye" for composition, that cannot be taught. My favorite subject to photograph is the human face. It is the roadmap that we represent to the world. To capture the spirit of someone who we just met an hour ago is like magic. To capture the unique bond that a couple shares takes observation, people skills and a willingness to be a little bossy when necessary. It's called "directing". While I always want my personal shooting style to come through, the customer's vision is achieved through our unique collaboration.

Susan came out to my home in Baltimore to do a portrait photo session. She came well-equipped and I can safely say that her efforts to get a great shot went above and beyond. She was quick to edit and upload the photos, and gave me a wide variety of finished pictures to choose from. I would not hesitate to hire Shutterpix again!

Susan was thoughful and creative. She gave us a great offer for our custom request to do something small for an informal wedding. She communicated quickly and clearly about our contract. She arrived early, took the photos as we requested, plus additional ones that we had not asked for and even posted some almost immediately for us to see.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Portrait Sessions: 15 to 30 minutes.... $40.00. 30 to 45 minutes..... $60.00. 1 hour non-wedding..... $80.00. Weddings: $100.00 per hour / photo shooting (up to first four (4) hours). $ 75.00 per hour / photo shooting (additional hours over the first four (4) hours) on same day / same event. $ 75.00 per hour / image mastering. One LOW PRICE. 4 Hours of Wedding Day coverage for just $400.00. Add additional time for $75.00/hour to same day event. Our studio retains copyrights to all images. Purchase a CD of high-resolution images for unlimited personal (non-commercial) use for an additional $125.00. Images may be viewed, shared and purchased from your own Zenfolio photo gallery. Quotes do not include sales tax. WV state sales tax will be collected at the rate of 6.00% and added to the total amount due for all services and products purchased.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A customer contacts us. We discuss your needs (the purpose for the photo shoot, who will be photographed, the date and time, the location(s), your vision (formal / fun / romantic / family / action). If you are booking a wedding shoot, we will meet in person for a consultation. Otherwise, we will do a brief consultation by phone for all other events and portrait shoots. An appointment will be scheduled for your photo shoot. A deposit of 1/3rd of the total amount is due upon booking. The next 1/3rd payment is due before your session begins upon arrival to your session. You will receive a reminder call the evening before your appointment date. Please give us at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your scheduled appointment. Your images will be mastered after the shoot. Please allow several days up to a week for a portrait session and two (2) to four (4) weeks for a wedding or other major event for the mastering of your photographic images. Your final 1/3rd payment is due upon delivery of your photographic images.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Learning is a life-long process. Susan is currently enrolled at New York Institute of Photography. Classes taken at Hagerstown Community College. Member of WPPI and PPA. She completed two degrees from the University of Maryland. Deanne is doing OJT with her mentor, getting intense feedback and one-on-one training. She is an enthusiastic student and cares very much about pleasing people. She takes on independent event photography assignments as a means to grow her skills, and shows a knack for capturing candid emotions and interactions.
