As a surprise gift for my wife, I hired Brian to paint a beach scene which included cliffs that sit at the edge of her favorite park here in Seattle. Discovery park is a special place for her. When she was a little girl, her mother who has since passed on and her would spend hours at the beach collecting small pieces of driftwood and use them for art projects. This is one of her fondest memories. Brian was recommended to me by a co worker who hired him to paint a painting for a gift to her sister. She said he really took the time to ensure both him and her were on the same page when creating the scene. She was absolutely correct. Him and I discussed at length what I wanted and what he created was absolutely perfect! I sent him a photo and asked him to add a mother and little girl in the distance holding pieces of driftwood. Also I asked him to paint calmer waves and blue sky because the day I took the photo was windy and cloudy. I knew I came up with the perfect gift idea the moment she opened it. The expression on her face was priceless. Yay me! I very highly recommend Brian as an artist to paint whatever scene you want him to paint. I'm very happy with his work and talent. I would definitely hire him again. Scott

My son wanted a mural on his bedroom wall. Since the walls were already painted cobalt blue, he thought "The Starry Night" would look cool (thank you 'Art in Action' elementary school enrichment!). Brian did an amazing job. I would go so far as to say I like it better than the original! Brian came up with the idea of going over the stars with glow-in-the dark paint. The wall glows at night. Needless to say, my son is so happy with the results that he's been bragging and bringing all his friends over to see it. Brian is so talented. You will not be disappointed!

I own several paintings and drawings of Brian's. He is a magnificent artist with a special gift for portraiture. He seems to work quickly and almost effortlessly, but has a capacity to capture the uniqueness and spontaneity of his subjects and their interactions, and with great technical skill. I would recommend him with pleasure, admiration, and great enthusiasm.

My husband loves his bulldog, he knows the dog's every expression, every wrinkle, every toe nail. So, when I commissioned the dog's protrait, I was worried that my husband would be disappointed...somehow that painting would not quite match the magnificance of the real dog. And yet, my husband was thrilled, Brian caught the detail and the spirit of the dog. It was the best present I've given to him in 20 years

Brian is a truly gifted and passionate artist. He has never spent a day without his artistic eye focused keenly on his community and the natural world. His portraits, self-portraits, and still lifes are full of dynamic light and shadow and convey deep emotion. Brian's painting and drawings both tell a story and inspire reflection, transport and give pause. If you are drawn to the detail and style of the Dutch masters and appreciate a rustic, sincere attention to subject matter, Brian is an artist to explore further.
