Eckloff Tile gave me a great price which is what I wanted. The day they were supposed to do the installation, they sent me a message saying they had an emergency come up and wanted to come the next day instead. They did show up the next day and did a nice job of installing the tiles in my kitchen. They then told me they'd be back the next day at the same time to do the grouting. We have five dogs so whenever we have work done like this we like to keep them out of the way of the people doing the work. My daughter took the dogs upstairs so they wouldn't hinder the workers. Eckloff didn't show up and we had stopped our dogs up for two hours for no reason. When I called I got voicemail. I later got a message saying they were confused about the day and would come the following day. The next day they did show up on time to do the grouting. They got the grouting done fairly quickly but really left a mess, with grout tracked on the floor and rugs. The grout wasn't cleaned very well off the tile and there was also some spilled on our new Quartz countertops. We had to clean up the mess ourselves. I wouldn't tell anyone not to hire Eckloff because other than cleanup they did an okay job for the price quoted. I feel like anyone who hires them should just be aware and make sure you get a good price.

Sadly, I need to update this with a more negative review. About a year and a half after the tile work was done, our microwave needed to be replaced. The new microwave fit a little differently, and a gap in the tile at the top behind the stove was created. Two rows of tile had to be removed to install the new microwave, and one row was covered up. What was left was a gap of what should have easily been one row. It was then that we noticed that Charlie had free-styled the tile placement behind the stove, which hadn't been overtly noticeable before, but it was bad enough that the tile could not be replaced easily into the gap. If you look really closely, you can see that there is a place where the grout expands, and then it just moves up from there. I started reaching out to the Eckloffs in mid-March of 2017 to come and fix the gap. I was told then that it was a common problem for them (*red flag*). There were some complications on their end due to personal reasons, and the repair kept getting delayed. It finally got to the point where Darlene was not returning my calls at all. She had also stopped responding to me on Facebook, and via Thumbtack and regular email. I had the distinct impression that she was dodging me. On June 21, 2017 I had another contractor spend one hour to cut and set the missing row of tile for me. It was a pretty easy job, and I was supplying all materials. He pointed out two things: 1. why did the Eckloffs fail to suggest removal of the countertop backsplash and do the tile all the way around, which would have given a cleaner look, and 2: why didn't they remove the microwave and tile behind it? The microwave could have been installed on top of the tile. That would have eliminated this entire problem. The answer to that is obvious: since Charlie does the work alone without any help, there is no way he can do anything more complicated that a straightforward tile installation. Bear this in mind if you are hoping for a sophisticated looking outcome. A two person crew is far better than an office manager and one installer. Mainly, I'm just very disappointed in the complete breakdown in communication and the failure to follow up in a more professional manner. I treated the personal issues with respect and kindness and a load of patience, but the lack of followup seemed disrespectful to me as a customer. I appreciate the assistance in getting contractor pricing on the tile initially, but now that we have been through this, I feel that Eckloff Tile may not really be knowledgable enough to do a top notch job. Add to that a lack of communication and you have a recipe for getting a second rate job. I suggest folks look elsewhere. Earlier review. We hired the Eckloffs to install a kitchen tile backsplash. We wanted to use tiles we had chosen on a third party website, and they were very accommodating about helping us obtain the best pricing. They were great to work with and very prompt. The job looks fantastic. It's like we got a complete new kitchen, all for the addition of a tile backsplash. We are hoping to hire Eckloff Tile again to help us with some other projects we have in mind.
