The transformation in our lovable yet energetically defiant yellow lab pup was nothing short of miraculous. In two short …”board & train” …weeks with Scott & Jen, she has become the smartest, most well behaved off leash pup in the world! She is a rock star with her commands and the bond between her and the whole family has become so much deeper as a result. We can confidently take her off leash anywhere we go now. Hiking, jogging, biking, swimming in nearby water sources, passing by other dogs or wild life, or simply going for a neighborhood walk are now relaxing and easy with this perfect girl. We plan on having Scott certify her as a therapy pup to visit hospitals, institutions etc. – something we never dreamed possible before. For what we spent on our living room television we now have an amazing, obedient four legged family member that will hopefully be with us for the next 15 years or more thanks to Off Leash K-9 Columbia, MD. Thank you Scott & Jen, …we owe you guys the world !! MIND BLOWN !

OL K9 Training really works. Neither Charlie nor Baxter reliably came when called, especially Baxter the Beagle-mix who obeys his nose above all else. We were forced to leash the dogs on all of our outdoor adventures, including hikes in the mountains of Maine. It is not fun being dragged down a mountain by an energetic dog. We signed up for basic obedience classes with Charlie, and after the first lesson I had hope that this could work, but I told them it would never work with Baxter. He is far too stubborn. But four lessons with Charlie and only one with Baxter have been life-changing. That may sound dramatic, but I adore my dogs and spend most of the day with them. Now, instead of yelling at them, we play ball in open fields and walk through the woods tracking squirrels without being tied to leashes. They run at a heel around my neighborhood every morning with me, not dragging me around. At first, I felt a little guilty about strapping those collars on every morning, but they adjust quickly and don’t even seem to notice they are wearing them now. The collars equal freedom and fun to the dogs. The training is amazingly simple and effective, but practice is the key to success. We continue to work every day because anything worth having takes a little effort! OL K9 Training is truly worth the money. Scott and Jen are great people, and truly want you to succeed. We will be keeping in touch with them and sharing pictures of our summer hikes. If you are reading this and are frustrated with your dog, contact them now! You won’t regret it.

I found Scott and Jen through Mid-Atlantic German Shepherd Rescue where I got my dog Stark as a LARGE puppy. MAGSR routinely send their "difficult" rescue cases to S&J for training prior to being adopted. I found their trust in these excellent trainers entirely well-founded. I selected the Board and Train option which is two weeks of intensive training with the result being dogs that are obedient and off-leash. They will teach your dog basic and advanced commands which are appropriate and useful for any dog owner. They also build confidence (a huge part of what my dog needed). They will send you daily pictures, videos, and progress updates while your pup is with them. When I picked up Stark, they gave me two hours training on what he had learned and the correct way to handle him with the e-collar. They are very clear and emphasized that the program is most successful when the owners put in a little time each day for two weeks or so reinforcing the commands in their "new" environment (e.g. at home with me). I worked with him pretty diligently and he has been fantastic! My 100lb German Shepherd is always the best behaved dog in the park and on the street (don't belive me? Come to Patterson Park NW side around 530-630pm any day of the week and see for yourself). He has grown in confidence and skill, making my life and experience exercising him much much better than before training. After training, I still had a problem with Stark's protectiveness of my home (he is a GS after all) especially with the dog walker. Scott and Jen immediately responded with advice and came to Baltimore (seriously!) to work directly with the dog walker. They had the problem cleared up in about 15 minutes. I can't recommend these guys enough, and I have tried. They are great humans, dog lovers, and most importantly, excellent trainers.

Scott and Jen are AMAZING! Before we brought Vader, our 8-month-old GSD, to their 2-week board and train, we were having A LOT of issues with him. He was high energy, out of control and nearly impossible to tire out (physically). A friend of ours recommended Off Leash to us, and we are beyond grateful for their training! We knew that we would need to continue working with him once we brought him home, but we finally had the basis for more intensive training - which is what our pup needed. Those who knew Vader before the training, and then spent time with him afterwards have said that the difference is "night and day." He is obedient, tires easily now that we are working his mind and actually challenging him, and we can now take him anywhere! None of this would have been possible without Off Leash K9 Training! We're really looking forward to more classes with Scott and Jen.

Our boy Cooper went from a runner the minute he was off leash to walking by our side with no leash! We can now relax on our walks in the woods and not worry that he will run off chasing deer and get lost or hit by a car. He comes when called and stays by our side until we tell him to "go sniff" and then off he goes only to come back again when called. We couldn't be happier with the training he received at Off Leash K9 Training. Jen kept us informed of his progress and based on the pictures we received daily, Cooper was clearly at home in her home. Highly recommend if you want to get your dog trained quickly and professionally. Thanks K9 from Cooper and his Mom and Dad.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We offer several different training packages from puppy lessons, basic obedience, advanced lessons and our famous 2 week board and train program. Check out our website for more information and pricing.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We like to get to you know you and your pup and create a training environment that fits your every day life. All of our lessons are private so we can get to know you and the needs that you have for training.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I suggest doing your homework. Not every trainer is right for you and your dog. Make sure you pick someone your are comfortable with. I feel that if you don't like the trainer and their methods you will not put the time or effort into working with your dog. Training should be engaging and fun, if its not fun then why would your dog want to learn.
