- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When starting a new business relationship I like to know the customer’s goals and objectives pertaining to my services. First I need to make sure that I am able to provide the services they would like. I need to know what they hope to accomplish, and a time frame they have in mind to accomplish these goals. For art lessons: I would need to know the age of the person(s) I would be instructing, what type of art they would like to learn how to create (this is usually starting with the basics and moving into advanced techniques over time), and I would also like to have a general idea of this person’s experience level. For paint parties: I would need to know how many people will be participating, information about the setting/environment/establishment, and any recommendations on subject matter to be painted by the participants. (For example, a seasonal theme, wedding theme, or kids theme are popular subjects). For Mommy and Me arts and crafts: This is a set of six 45 minute long sessions designed as a boding experience for parent(s) and child(ren) (usually ages 3-5) to work together and create a new art piece or craft every session. I would need to know basic information about the child(ren) attending, such as things they like, skills they might need to work on (cutting, holding paintbrushes, etc), age and general attention span... For all of the above the relationship would start with an email or phone call discussing these matters, and if I am hired we would schedule a date and time for services.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Towson University in 2007 with a BS in Art-Education. I am certified to teach grades K-12. I have taught art as a long term sub at various public schools in the area. I worked for a non-profit in Baltimore, called ‘Art with a Heart,’ where I travelled to and taught art to underprivileged citizens in MD. I planned and taught art classes on base at APG for children ages 3-15. I am constantly working on art which enables me to better my own skills and also learn and practice new processes and mediums etc.
