Carla was an amazing instructor and we greatly appreciate the hard work and effort that she put into the training that our dog received. She was very professional, extremely nice, and always aimed to please us and make sure that the training was what we expected and the results were satisfactory.

Carla was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout this whole process! I did the 3 week off leash program for Winter! He had all the typical puppy issues. Carla took the time to talk with me about his issues and definitely addressed them. Provided daily videos showing that Winter was in great hands. Would definitely recommend anyone to Carla! Thank you for everything!

Carla was amazing! I could tell right away that she loves dogs and knows how to speak their language. Harper, our 1.5 year old mini poodle, took to her instantly and they took off for a week of adventure. Every day I got pictures and videos of the training progress being made as well as just some fun, happy doggy pics and vids. Upon return, Carla took the time to teach us exactly what worked for Harper and gave us all the tools to continue the progress at home. Carla was prompt, professional, quick to respond, well-spoken, and easy to work with. She also picked up and dropped off—big bonus for a busy mom of 5. The cost was quite a bit lower than several others I looked into. Highly recommend. Thanks Carla!

We reached out to Carla when we hit a wall with our very young but powerful golden retriever Sidney. My husband and I were first time pup owners and had little experience with a high energy and easily distracted fur baby. Despite her overwhelming cuteness, we were desperate to learn how to keep her attention long enough to begin instruction. Sidney had trouble walking on leash, staying focused, and listening to commands, especially when they came from me. I reached out to Carla for help and she immediately reassured me that with practice and patience, we would progress. Carla worked with Sidney independently and worked with us together to improve control and obedience. She adapted exercises and instructions according to our needs and goals. Over time, Sidney learned to control her destructive impulses and respect my commands and presence. Highly recommend Carla- she’s great to work with!

Carla was excellent to work with. She structured each of our sessions to build up fundamental skills with our new puppy, but also left enough space for us to work on specific issues as they arose. The lessons were constructive and gave our family specific things to practice over the week between sessions. I can see a huge improvement in our puppy over the five weeks we worked with Carla!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I have taught multiple group classes at Capital Dog Training Club, including Basic Obedience and Canine Good Citizen Prep. I have put multiple titles on my personal dog: CGC, Companion Dog, and Trick Dog Intermediate.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

    I have trained every single animal I've ever owned: dogs, horses, cats, birds, and even a Betta fish. (Yes, I'm serious!) I love to train because it allows animals and humans to understand each other harmoniously.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

    Put more stake in the results a trainer is able to achieve with their dogs than the words they say. Dogs don't lie!
