We reached out to Carla when we hit a wall with our very young but powerful golden retriever Sidney. My husband and I were first time pup owners and had little experience with a high energy and easily distracted fur baby. Despite her overwhelming cuteness, we were desperate to learn how to keep her attention long enough to begin instruction. Sidney had trouble walking on leash, staying focused, and listening to commands, especially when they came from me. I reached out to Carla for help and she immediately reassured me that with practice and patience, we would progress. Carla worked with Sidney independently and worked with us together to improve control and obedience. She adapted exercises and instructions according to our needs and goals. Over time, Sidney learned to control her destructive impulses and respect my commands and presence. Highly recommend Carla- she’s great to work with!

We had an amazing experience working with Carla! Gigi was our first dog and we had a lot of questions and anxieties. We did all our training virtually through FaceTime due to CoVID and honestly the sessions flew by - we were able to get feedback on our training for that week and go over cues and tips and also get great hands on examples and work from Carla's awesome dog Calvin. Carla was extremely patient, so knowledgeable and went above and beyond to provide us with videos, her own experiences, training materials (even dropping off leashes and treats for training exercises!) and really quelled our anxieties. We've seen so much progress as a result of the structured sessions, the lesson plans and videos Carla sends after the fact and being able to trust a process, which is what we were most looking for. For what she provides in terms of service, even virtually, was excellent value for money and we could not have been more happy with our choice.

Carla was excellent to work with. She structured each of our sessions to build up fundamental skills with our new puppy, but also left enough space for us to work on specific issues as they arose. The lessons were constructive and gave our family specific things to practice over the week between sessions. I can see a huge improvement in our puppy over the five weeks we worked with Carla!

Carla is the best! We signed up for her puppy package and were so sad when we ended our last session (thank goodness she does a la cart sessions as well). She taught my husband and I how to walk our dog, helped with crate training, gave us tips for getting his energy out, and showed us how to execute commands. My husband and I practiced with our dog daily which is critical! She showed us the formula, but it was up to us to follow through to drive home the message(s). I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a dog trainer.

She was terrific. She is gentle and lovely with the dogs who clearly love her and it is very mutual. She answered all our questions, including email questions after hours — and she was easy to learn from. And she was flexible about timing and her rates were Very reasonable. She is also a young woman starting her own business and it was a pleasure to support her.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taught multiple group classes at Capital Dog Training Club, including Basic Obedience and Canine Good Citizen Prep. I have put multiple titles on my personal dog: CGC, Companion Dog, and Trick Dog Intermediate.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have trained every single animal I've ever owned: dogs, horses, cats, birds, and even a Betta fish. (Yes, I'm serious!) I love to train because it allows animals and humans to understand each other harmoniously.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Put more stake in the results a trainer is able to achieve with their dogs than the words they say. Dogs don't lie!
