Introduction: Rhein Tutoring is my French language small business. I offer French to beginner- and intermediate-level students of all ages. I have taught for over a decade. French is my second cradle language. I attended a French lycee during my grammar in middle school years. I speak French with my family and friends here in the U.S. and in Europe (specifically Switzerland and France). I offer conversational French and/or basic French literacy. I am certified to teach French in public schools in both DC and Maryland. My rates are fair. My experience is vast. I went to Stephanie Rhein for weekly six month sessions tutoring beginners level French as I was planning a vacation in France the summer of 2014 and wanted to be able to communicate some basic phrases, etc I had taken French in 7th and 8th grade only--she was very good at assessing where I was and was very organized and detailed in trying to meet my needs at each session- she has a lot of patience and is clearly fluent and very knowledgeable of the French and other languages. She keeps improving her own skills each summer. I would highly recommend her and would have her as a tutor again if the need arises. Some of my early comprehension came back to me which was helpful--I was able to feel comfortable enough in France to ask questions, understand some French people and helped a lot with directions and in restaurants. It is helpful if you know what your needs are from the beginning as that would assist Stephanie in preparing lessons. She was also flexible if in one session I felt I wanted to put more emphasis on verb tenses we could postpone something else she may have intended to introduce when I felt I needed more time with certain verbs, etc. Hope you try Stephanie Rhein. Very good French accent as she comes from a bilingual family. Enjoy sharing her knowledge with children or adult beginners. Has different tools to adapt and cater to your need. With Stephanie you can have fun learning how to read and speak .

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $40.00/hour at the students' homes and $30/hour at my home in Glen Echo, Md.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For my French lessons, I use a different approach depending on the level of the student and if he/she is a child or an adult. I follow the school curriculum when helping out with students' French course in school. If they do not take French in school, I tailor to the students' needs in listening, speaking, reading and writing French. I am very familiar with the different levels of students and I have a lot of materials handy to supplement or complete the lessons. For adults I use different books, of course. The adult would have to tell me his/her purpose for learning French and I would accommodate. Again, I have a lot of materials available.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified to teach French with Maryland and the District of Columbia Public Schools. I scored high and passed the Praxis Exam for French for both states. I cannot presently upload the certification, but can provide it for you if need be. I attended a French lycee in elementary and middle schools. I have a Master's from American University in Education. I can feel the level of my students and can thus better help them achieve their goals. I have been tutoring French for the last two years. I am an excellent tutor with about a decade of experience. I travel to Europe in the summers to see family and friends in France and Switzerland. Also, my mother is Swiss and helped me learn to speak French. I read French every day to keep up with French literature.
