FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our service is mostly straightforward. We begin with an email exchange (or phone call if that's easier) to discuss the business at hand. Before we begin writing or editing, we must have a clear notion as to what our client hopes to achieve. - Suzanne
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We both read constantly and widely - trade publications, news stories, blog posts, fiction and nonfiction. It helps that Cassie and I write every day, too. While we've earned graduate degrees in writing, it's essential to keep up with the ever-changing business of writing. - Suzanne
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've always been passionate about writing, and I love to read. I love to talk about books and authors and characters. If I'm sitting at a red light, I'll edit the billboard on the roadside. Writers are often misunderstood, and if you're published or trying to publish, people say dumb things to you like, "Maybe you'll be the next J.K. Rowling!" or "Maybe your book will be on Oprah!" Okay, so I don't get the Oprah comment so much anymore, but you get the idea. These are nearly impossible standards, yet writers are expected to achieve this kind of notoriety if they are to be deemed "successful." That's like expecting every small business owner to be Donald Trump, comb-over and all. It's ridiculous. Okay, I'm on a rant here. Let's just say you do NOT have to be J.K. Rowling or Donald Trump to be a true success in writing or in business. - Suzanne
