Welcome! Let’s enhance your space with a custom piece of artwork! Portraits also make a unique and memorable gift. Melissa is a diverse fine artist and painter with a bright, semi-realistic painterly style. She is a published illustrator, author, and fine artist having earned her degree in illustration from Maryland Institute College of Art. She has several years experience working as an interior house painter as well, so she covers all surrounding areas with plastic and drop cloths. Melissa has painted and drawn hundreds of portraits; pets and people, and painted murals in a local hospital, college, cafes, restaurants, residential homes, and unique requests for her customers over the last 25 years. *Please note that unless a taller ladder can be provided, Melissa’s murals are currently restricted to 8 feet high max. 1/3 down is required to start the project. Please allow time for revisions to the artwork if needed. Please send clear reference photos to work from for the best result!

Melissa worked on this beautiful piece of my wedding featuring my dog that passed away and was unable to then be in the wedding. She was responsive and worked with me with every little edit and critique I had. Most importantly she was affordable and reasonable with her prices! While our little dog is surely missed, Melissa did an excellent job of carrying on his memory and what it would have looking liked had he been at our wedding.

Melissa is AWESOME! If I could, I would have selected all five top value choices. She is professional and her drawing is superb. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
To reserve Melissa’s time for planning and sketches, 1/3 down payment is required before starting. Remaining balance is due as soon as the project is completed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
AA in Fine Art and a Bachelor’s degree in Illustration with training in sculpture, ceramics, figure drawing, illusionism-style, drawing, painting, and various techniques. Melissa has 5 years experience in cabinet refinishing and painting, and 10+ experience in interior and exterior painting. She continues her education by taking occasional art classes for fun.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I discovered in high school that I could draw well from life, and render rather realistically in pencils.
