Hired on Thumbtack

After several in person meetings, we signed a contract and paid a deposit to start. Contractor then came back letting us know that a permit is required which would increase the cost by 30%. We decided to not move forward and have yet to receive a refund of our deposit after 3 weeks.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We do not want to be the lowest price because you get what you pay for . We do not use Builder Grade products or Day Laborers . We are licensed and insured . We are also not the most expensive because you are not paying for a show room , expensive t.v. , radio , and newspaper ads .
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We offer a no cost free estimate . We will set an appointment with the Homeowners to go to their home , evaluate their project , show and discuss their options , and if we show something that the Homeowner likes we will price out their options .
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in this business for 45 years attending the school of hard knocks.
