Introduction: Unfortunately, many marriage counselors make a marriage worse because they are not necessarily trained in marriage counseling, but are general practitioners, if you will. As an advanced clinician, I only see couples, not individuals, and practice marriage counseling exclusively. Safety is my number 1 goal, so my therapy sessions are structured in a very safe manner. There is no yelling, shaming, or blaming, in fact, couples often come to sessions to be able to spend time connecting with each other, not necessarily for conflict. I love when couples connect and feel like they can trust each other again, healing whatever wounds were present, and coming together again in a joyful way.

Rabbi Slatkin was calm and sensitive. He provided a neutral and safe place for us to explore what led to my wife's affair a few years ago. He showed us new ways to communicate, and we practiced with him there. That made it easier to keep doing better when we got home. We are connecting more, and I'm starting to feel like I can forgive and move on. Our family is already lighter and healthier. We also really liked the office atmosphere, and how we did the sessions face-to-face. It cut the tension, because it's hard to be angry when you're that close with someone. We never felt like religion was emphasized beyond what made sense for our situation.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our 2 Day Intensives cost $5200. Included is a hotel stay, all materials for the intensive, two months of followup sessions post intensive, and our online Marriage School audio/visual program to support homework between followup sessions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a member of Imago International and I pursue and teach CEU classes on a regular basis. I'm also a member of the American Association of Mental Health Professionals and stay abreast of changes in my field.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Imago therapy transformed our own marriage. When we were newlyweds, we chose to see an Imago therapist. When my wife and I got married, we were not fully prepared for marriage as most people are not. The toughest patches of our relationship came and we did not have the tools to manage the hardship. Our lives change drastically with the birth of our first child. Raising a newborn child had a fair amount of challenges and blessings, but it put more stresses on our relationship. I felt lost until a friend mentioned Imago therapy. I would have never imagined that I would later become an Imago Relationship Therapist. It only took one 90 minute session for my wife and I to fall back in love again. Despite the frustrations and pains we shared, we were able to revisit and realize why we fell in love with one another in the first place. We were also able to view our relationship through a new lens. There was more to it than just being told there was room for growth and healing beneath the conflict. Through the first dialogue in the session we learned practical and deep skills to promote growth in our relationship! During this time I was studying for a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. Our therapist suggested that I pursue training and certification as an Imago Relationship Therapist. It was a relief to finally be introduced to a form of marriage counseling that allows both parties to feel safe, learn to communicate, and love one another, and their relationship, again. One of the biggest problems in our society is the abundance of unhealthy relationships. Without having peace and love within our relationships we cannot truly find happiness.
