Handyman

Kent responded quickly and made arrangements to do the work the day after He first contacted me. He and his daughter, Betsy, finished an hour earlier than he estimated and charged me according to the actual time worked rather than the original bid. They were friendly, prompt, efficient, and effective. I plan to call them again for a remodeling job on a bathroom.

Fence and Gate Repairs

Kent put in a section of fence and a gate to complete enclosure of the backyard of my son’s house. We needed it done quickly to accommodate two dogs. Kent and his crew did a great job. Highly recommend him.

Trim or Molding Installation

Kent was super responsive and communicative from the get go. He was even willing to fit us in to his busy summer schedule (on a Saturday!) when our original carpenter fell through. We wanted to add crown molding and bead board details to our kitchen cupboards along with some simple quarter round in another small room, and Kent and Dave were so detail-oriented the entire project. Plus, they were super friendly and a pleasure to spend the day with. My husband likes to watch and learn from professionals and they both were more than willing to let him do so and even taught him along the way. We'll be hiring Kent again in the future and feel lucky to have found him.

Thanks for the review Merrill, working with you and your husband was pure joy. Your dogs were nice too. We hadn't put up crown in quite a while so thanks for the opportunity to do so. Good luck with the rest of your project and call on us anytime. Kent

Kent is exceptional finish carpenter. Made sure pocket door, trim, & three other doors fit exactly. Worked two 10 hour days, one on weekend, to finish job ahead of carpet install. I recommend Kent without reservation. Mike Stevenson

Thanks Michael, you and your daughter were a pleasure to work for. I sure got my exercise going up and down the stairs. It had been a while since I had installed a pocket door so thanks for giving me the opportunity to do one again. Call me anytime for help on your projects in the future Mike. Thanks for the job, Kent

Handyman

Kent did an excellent job installing new drop-down attic stairs and repairing an electrical outlet. I would hire him again at the drop of a hat. He worked quickly and efficiently and cleaned up afterwards. He was knowledgable and personable, and answered questions about other jobs I'm thinking about getting done. He gave me advice on what he thought I could accomplish myself (and how) and what aspects of projects he could help out with. Kent is great to work with!

Thanks Phoebe for your great review. It was really nice working with you. It had been a while since I had put in a pull down stairway and it was fun to install one again. I like the style you chose and definitely will recommend the aluminum ladder one. Good luck with your art work and call me anytime. Thanks for the job. Kent

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have an associate degree in building trades from Trinidad State junior College. I have a residential builders license. I take continuing education classes and I have over 40 years experience in the trades.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I never knew that building that tree fort when I was a kid was going to lead me to be a carpenter. My brothers and I, along with some kids from the neighborhood, built a three story tree fort from wood that we found at a friend's house. The wood had nails in it, so we pulled them out and straightened them, then used them to build the fort! Later on when I was 19, and a ski bum out in Colorado, I got a labor job building a warming lodge in Crested Butte. I saw how much fun the carpenters were having pounding nails and working with the wood that I said "that's what I want to do!" I always thought I was going to be a Park Ranger in Glacier National Park!

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Recently we built a delux dog house. It has a porch and is insulated and heated. It also has a light inside. It’s on casters so it can be used in different locations. It took about 20 hours to build. Rosie the dog was chewing up all kinds of things inside so the owner wanted her to be outside. Hence the dog 🐶 house.
