Fence and Gate Installation
Drop all your other candidates and hire this GEM of a carpenter!!! This was truly the most amazing contractor experience I have ever had. Kent came with his team of family members, build the most beautiful, solid, and unique fence, all exactly in the timeframe laid out, with a joy that made my whole family smile. Our puppy is a lucky puppy to have had this man fence in his back yard! 🐶Jun 9, 2017VerifiedKent W. Peterson's reply
Thanks Annemarie, working at your house was a real pleasure. Talking through the custom fence plans was a lot of fun. It was interesting learning about your home country Holland and the kind of fences they have there. Your dog Stip was a lot of fun to be around. Making a soccer ball proof fence was a first. The green fence has gotten a lot of positive comments as well. Call us anytime you need some help. Thanks so much for the job. Kent
Kent responded quickly and made arrangements to do the work the day after He first contacted me. He and his daughter, Betsy, finished an hour earlier than he estimated and charged me according to the actual time worked rather than the original bid. They were friendly, prompt, efficient, and effective. I plan to call them again for a remodeling job on a bathroom.Oct 6, 2013Verified
Mr. Peterson did everything a contractor a contractor should do to rate 5 stars. He showed up on time. He didn't ask to borrow any equipment from me. His quality of work is that of an artist not a master craftsmen. He cleaned up after himself. This is the 2nd most important thing to me next to quality of work. Lastly, there were no cost overruns. I would highly recommend Mr Peterson and will myself be using him exclusively from now on.Feb 1, 2014VerifiedKent W. Peterson's reply
Thomas, thanks you so much for the 5 star rating and review. It was a pleasure to work at your house. Thanks especially for your medical expertise when attending to Betsy's cut finger. You and your wife are the best! thanks again for the opportunity to work at your house, salama, kent
We enjoyed having Kent and Betsy install doorwall and build our porch. Everything looks great. Kent makes sure he gets it right. One thing that I really liked about Kent he listened to us and helped build what we had in mind. While most other contractors that came out showed me how they would build it. And would completely dismiss our ideas as bad. Kent made it happen and it turned out even better than we had invisioned.Oct 20, 2014Kent W. Peterson's reply
Thanks for the review Mark. You were my very first Thumbtack customer. We drove to new Boston every day to work at your house, and it was worth it. You have a really nice place and it was a pleasure working for you. I really like working with that metal roof you chose. Call on us again anytime. Kent

License Type: Builder – Individual (MI)
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have an associate degree in building trades from Trinidad State junior College. I have a residential builders license. I take continuing education classes and I have over 40 years experience in the trades.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I never knew that building that tree fort when I was a kid was going to lead me to be a carpenter. My brothers and I, along with some kids from the neighborhood, built a three story tree fort from wood that we found at a friend's house. The wood had nails in it, so we pulled them out and straightened them, then used them to build the fort! Later on when I was 19, and a ski bum out in Colorado, I got a labor job building a warming lodge in Crested Butte. I saw how much fun the carpenters were having pounding nails and working with the wood that I said "that's what I want to do!" I always thought I was going to be a Park Ranger in Glacier National Park!
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?Recently we built a delux dog house. It has a porch and is insulated and heated. It also has a light inside. It’s on casters so it can be used in different locations. It took about 20 hours to build. Rosie the dog was chewing up all kinds of things inside so the owner wanted her to be outside. Hence the dog 🐶 house.
