FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I can either work hourly or flat rate. It really depends on the scope of the project. If it is a small kitchen or bath renovation, I tend to work hourly. But if it is a large project such as a whole house design, a flat rate is easiest to work with. Overall, I like to be transparent about these things so that everyone is comfortable.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to start very informally via sharing Pinterest boards or Houzz so that I can really start to understand the overall quality and aesthetic that a client is searching for. Its awesome to start with big ideas, then slowly work towards what is possible and within budget. After initial meetings, I develop concept boards and develop proposed layouts and 3d models. Once these elements are resolved, we move into finish selection, getting contractor quotes, permits.... and then your project gets built.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes! I teach design at the University of Michigan. I recently received my LEED certification. And I recently received a realtors license in Michigan. As a real estate investor myself, I hope to help my clients with all aspects of their project, not just design.
